Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  of this job description include but are not limited to:

  • Set-up, maintain and clean various types of respiratory care equipment in order to provide safe patient care
  • Provides support for respiratory care services for the treatment of patients with disordered respiratory physiology under the direction of a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Responsible for delivering varied oxygen devices on a timely basis
  • Performs hospital-wide rounds on a daily basis to monitor and provide service to patients using respiratory support devices
  • Supports the respiratory therapists, nurses, and physicians with their equipment/supply needs, work lists, workload data throughout CCH

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Enrolled In Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Current BLS Card
  • Must be proficient in using computer systems (Microsoft Office)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel often requiring exceptional courtesy and tact. 
  • Critical thinking and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to patient elements, prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking, sitting,

bending/twisting, kneeling/squatting, reaching, climbing and should be able to lift 25 or more pounds using proper lifting techniques. Rapidly changing and stressful environment. Ability to communicate with various levels of people. Possible exposure to communicable and infectious diseases and hazardous materials. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patients or unit elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple tasks and inquiries.
