Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) to the staff and acts as a liaison between various departments, improvement teams, and staff members to achieve positive quality outcomes.
  • Prepares & presents information effectively to internal & external customers of the Clinical Resources Department as needed to support the quality goals of the organization.
  • Prepares and provides education regarding quality initiatives and/or performance standards to members of the medical and hospital staff as assigned & ongoing, as indicated by measure.
  • Provides recommendations to modify or improve process/flow of departments.
  • Recognizes quality event cases and reports them to the Risk manager.
  • Acting as the primary support contact for quality dashboard and report development.
  • Identifying issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams and working to resolve them.
  • Guiding outflow design, building, and evaluating the system, and analyzing other technical issues.
  • Identifying and implementing requested changes to the system to support EH quality reporting requirements.
  • Developing and understanding of operational needs to set the direction of the organization’s process and quality improvement.
  • Participates in performance improvement, training, and working with quality department leadership.
  • Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors, occupational health, and other professional/non-professional staff members to provide resource information and identify new opportunities to improve service and reduce costs.
  • Develops and enforces effectual policies and procedures for the department and hospital that ensures compliance with DNV, OSHA, CDC, CMS and other county, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains competency and participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective, and cost-conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a current RN license with BSN preferred, OR Masters in Public Health (MPH) - A master's degree in public health or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting
  • Two (2) years’ experience with EHR system
  • Certification in relevant CEs, applications, and systems
  • Ability to learn & demonstrate proficiency in core measure data abstraction & to perform concurrent data abstraction duties as assigned
  • Proficient in development of education programs (in conjunction with Nurse Educator) on relevant quality topics and conducting presentations to audiences
  • Proficient in data analysis & identification trends
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel often requiring exceptional courtesy and tact
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and multitasking skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS /WORKING CONDITIONS:

Standing, kneeling/squatting, pushing/pulling wheelchairs, stretchers, clients, furniture, and equipment, reaching, carrying, and should be able to lift 10+ pounds using proper lifting techniques.  Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, and the potential for physical harm. Clients who are confused or combative may increase the likelihood for this potential. The event of a physical plant hazard could increase the risk as well. Must be able to deal with the day-to-day routine stress caused by working with ill patients, anxious families, physicians, and other health care providers. May be able to deal with stress caused by emergencies or critical situations when the need arises.  May be exposed to unpleasant odors at any time.
