Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:

  • Plans, organizes, develops, implements, and interprets the necessary programs, goals, policies, and procedures necessary for providing compliant HR programs and services
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends, federal and state legislation, and ensures compliance
  • Identifies and resolves operational and administrative issues
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff and respecting all differences
  • Defines realistic, specific goals and objectives, prioritizes effectively, and produces quality results
  • Responds in a timely manner to messages/requests
  • Serve as technical resource when needed
  • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment throughout the department and the organization
  • Maintains competency
  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a unit work environment that reflects the principals, performance improvement, and customer service program consistent with the Hospital’s Mission Statement
  • Creates and maintains a positive and trustworthy community image and respectful attitude
  • Possesses a strong customer and service to others orientation
  • Participates in team approach throughout the organization
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three to five years of generalist human resources experience to include hands-on experience with most HR areas is required with at least three years of management experience.  Health care experience is highly desirable
  • Bachelor degree in business administration, human resources, or related field is required 
  • Master degree in business administration, human resources, or related field is preferred
  • Certification in Human Resources (PHR/CP) or Senior Certification Human Resources (SPHR/

S-CP) is preferred

  • Knowledge of hospital and health care practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to health care human resources, knowledge of Microsoft Office and other management software, and social media expertise
  • Excellent critical thinking, creative, organizational, and project management skills and oral, written, and public speaking skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to patient elements, prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking, sitting, bending/twisting, kneeling/squatting, reaching, climbing and should be able to lift 25 or more pounds using proper lifting techniques. Rapidly changing and stressful environment. Ability to communicate with various levels of people. Possible exposure to communicable and infectious disease and hazardous materials. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements (accidents, injuries and illness). Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple tasks and inquiries.
